A free chat room, simple and beautiful. Chat with anyone you want, about anything you want, under any name you want. We all need someone to talk to, someone who listens, someone who understands.
The Story of Chatlace
I was searching for a free chat room on the internet - something simple, easy to use, and accessible to everyone. But all my searches ended in disappointment.
The chat rooms I found were either overloaded with complicated features or filled with unnecessary visual designs. None of them offered the simplicity I was looking for, so I decided to create one myself.
I sat in front of my computer, thinking for a long time, until a name came to mind: Chat as you like. That night, I spent hours writing the code. I didn't sleep at all.
The name turned out to be a good one. Many visitors liked it. Just as the name suggested, people could chat as they liked. However, as a brand name, it felt a little too long, and I started searching for something shorter and more memorable.
One morning, while walking across campus and enjoying the fresh air, a passing schoolmate gently called out to me:
"Hey girl, your shoelace is loose."
I looked down and realized that one of my shoelaces had indeed come undone, probably caught by a branch or some grass along the way.
I smiled, thanked him, and bent down to tie my shoelace. Suddenly, the word lace flashed into my mind.
Lace is both delicate and practical - a beautiful fabric woven into intricate patterns, and also a simple string used to hold things together. I had lace dresses in my wardrobe, necklaces in my drawer, and countless shoelaces in my closet.
That day, the chat room was renamed Chatlace (chatlace.com).
It might be the most simple chat room on the internet, but it has varied visitors, various things, varying words, and variable meanings.
